Anthropic Closes $15B Funding Round at $350 Billion Valuation
Claude maker surpasses initial $10B target with Microsoft and NVIDIA participation expected to push total even higher.
Anthropic has closed its latest funding round above the initial $10 billion target, achieving a valuation of $350 billion. The round closed between $10-15 billion, with potential for additional growth if Microsoft and NVIDIA contribute from their previously announced investment plans.
Record Valuation
The $350 billion valuation nearly doubles Anthropic's previous valuation, reflecting the market's confidence in Claude's competitive position against GPT-5 and Gemini. This makes Anthropic one of the most valuable private companies in the world, rivaling SpaceX and ByteDance.
Microsoft and NVIDIA Participation
Microsoft and NVIDIA announced in November their intentions to invest up to $5 billion and $10 billion respectively in Anthropic. These investment plans were separate from the current round, meaning the total could climb even higher once those commitments are finalized.
Microsoft Integration Deepens
Microsoft has become one of Anthropic's top customers, spending approximately $500 million per year on Claude models. On January 7, 2026, Microsoft made Claude the default AI for most business customers outside certain regions, integrating it across Copilot, Microsoft 365, and Copilot Studio.
Strategic Position
The funding positions Anthropic to continue heavy investment in AI safety research and model development. With the resources to compete with OpenAI's Stargate initiative and Google's Gemini development, Anthropic is well-positioned for the next phase of the AI race.
